About the project
“Sketch the journey” is a project of StartUp Szeged. The project aims to support trainers, teachers, and educators in developing visual thinking techniques to enhance the learning experience for youngsters. Visual thinking is a powerful tool that helps organize thoughts, improve communication, and convey complex information effectively. With a focus on visual learning and thinking, the training course emphasize the Picture Sensory Effect, encouraging educators to use images effectively in their daily lives. By incorporating visual strategies, such as diagrams, graphic organizers, and concept maps, educators can engage students, promote problem-solving, and enhance understanding. It also emphasizes the importance of digitalization and innovative approaches to youth work. Through this project, the aim is to create a community of educators who can support each other and continue implementing visual thinking techniques beyond the training. Ultimately, the project contributes to the capacity building and learning of youth within formal and non-formal education, aligning with the objectives of the Erasmus+ program.
Contribution:
This project is highlighting the significance of visual thinking strategies in education. The project emphasizes that visual thinking is an alternative approach that helps organize thoughts, enhance thinking and communication skills, and effectively convey complex information.
The main contributions of the project are:
- To emphasize the need to support trainers, teachers, and educators in developing visual thinking techniques to enhance the learning experience, particularly for young learners. It addresses the outdated teaching methods and the necessity to align with today’s visual expectations of society.
- Highlighting the dominance of visual processing in the brain, with 75% of sensory neurons dedicated to visual processing. It emphasizes that 87% of the population processes and retains information best through visual approaches.
- Discover the increasing importance of creative, visual education due to the rise of digital learning and the attention spans of young learners. Educators are encouraged to acquire visual thinking skills to capture and maintain students’ attention for longer periods.
- Show the benefits of visual thinking, such as faster information processing, improved writing skills, enhanced problem-solving abilities, and a deeper understanding of complex concepts.
- Promoting the use of visual aids like diagrams, concept maps, videos, simulations, virtual reality, augmented reality, and games to make education more engaging and interactive, particularly in science education.
Objectives
- Integrate the set of visual knowledge and competencies to train trainers, educators and teachers working with youth
- Encourage trainers in using these visual skills set to work with youngsters locally and to boost their learning skills
- Use visual activities to boost a more collaborative, consciously visible group of youngsters that’s skills correspond to today’s market needs (particular focus on UI)
- Teach, put in practice, monitor, assess and evaluate the TC and the local practice to provide empirical evidence and valid indicators of the efficacy of this formula and its need to be further developed and invested upon.

- Increased awareness and understanding of the power of visual thinking strategies in education.
- Improved teaching methods and tools to meet today’s visual expectations.
- Development of educators’ skills in using images effectively.
- Utilization of visual thinking skills for problem-solving and group work.
- Improved writing skills and higher-level thinking through visual discussions.
- Empowerment of youth workers and educators to engage all young people.

Financial Conditions/ Reimbursements:
We will organize the travel for you!
The course is implemented in the frame of the Erasmus+ Programme. The costs – including costs of full-board and accommodation during the program – will be covered by the organizers.
Participants are expected to cover insurance and any additional personal expenses.
If the participant fails to attend the event the organizers shall be compelled to charge him/her for any travel expenses covered by the organizers.
Accommodation:
Participants will be accommodate in a hotel at, Balatonszárszó,, Hungary in 3-4 bedded rooms.
Each room has a private bathroom and toilet.
Bed linens and towels are provided.
Breakfasts, lunches, dinners per day will be provided by the organizers.
Participants Profile:
- Youth workers, young community leaders and members of the partner organizations;
- aged 18+
- experience working with young people
- knowledge of the situation of young people in their own country;
- motivation to take part in a mutual learning process in a very intercultural setting;
- good level of English to follow the training and to contribute to it;
- wish and ability to participate fully in the event;
- Materials for Intercultural Evening: please bring food, drinks, music, or anything you find relevant to present your culture and/or country during the intercultural evening.
- Health insurance documents: the health/ travel insurance is in the responsibility of the participants, make sure you are covered during your stay in Hungary!
