This is exactly what a group of Moldovan students experienced during their long-term apprenticeships in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, as part of the IN-VET project. Meet Marina and Dumitru, two students from Moldova’s Briceni district, who were placed at the Gambrinus restaurant. Marina works as a waiter, juggling a packed schedule from noon to late evening. “Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest,” she shares. “The terrace and indoor tables are always full, and we’re constantly on the move.” Dumitru, her colleague, takes on the role of a bartender, mixing cocktails, serving guests, and occasionally stepping onto the terrace to assist during the rush hours.
Their days are long, but they embrace the challenge with enthusiasm. “Even though it’s busy, we enjoy the interaction with people. When there’s a quiet moment, we talk and connect, which makes the experience more enjoyable,” Marina reflects.
For these students, the apprenticeship is about more than just work—it’s about discovering new skills and adapting to professional environments. During their monitoring visit, the Moldova’s National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research observed how these placements are tailored to meet the students’ preferences and needs. “They’ve been heard regarding their preferred practice places, and they’re satisfied with their experiences so far,” they noted, adding that the students show genuine interest and eagerness to learn. “They’ve taken on tasks they’ve never done before and built great relationships with their colleagues.” The students are not only learning technical skills but also mastering soft skills like time management, communication, and teamwork. Employers have also been impressed.

The success of these apprenticeships is a two-way street. Employers like those at Gambrinus benefit from the energy and fresh perspective the students bring. Meanwhile, the students gain invaluable hands-on experience that bridges the gap between their studies and real-world applications.

ABOUT THE TRAINER:
Ádam Rikter is a seasoned trainer with extensive international experience. He has delivered training courses in various topics, including entrepreneur competencies, soft skills development, and job competencies for companies and continuously facilitating training and meetings for the Hungarian national agency called Tempus Public Foundation. He is a freelancer trainer who has real experience as an entrepreneur. From 2017-2020 he was the co-founder and COO of a coworking space called GRABOVSKY. Based on his experiences he developed training in the topic of entrepreneurship competencies.

Project Description:
This soft skills training is for young people who are already freelancers, entrepreneurs, digital nomads (or would like to become a digital nomad), and for those, who want to improve their entrepreneurial mindset.
Depending on the openness of the participants, a one-day hackathon can be included in the program. It will depend on the composition of the group, the needs, and the existing patchwork.
During the training we will work on the most important entrepreneur competencies like self-assessment, how to cooperate in teams or manage processes, how to think out of the box, communication , and how to make a possible business plan. This will be a learning-by-doing training , meaning participants will have experiences in the topics above.

Intro:
Welcome to “YOUth Take the LEAD,” an international mobility project of GYEEK Club Szeged with the cooperation of BODRUNG, designed to empower young people to become active contributors to society through the promotion of active citizenship and increased youth participation. This initiative recognizes the crucial role that young individuals play in shaping the future and aims to provide them with the tools, knowledge, and experiences needed to take the lead in their communities.

Objectives:
- Foster Active Citizenship:
- Equip participants with an understanding of the concept of active citizenship.
- Encourage a sense of responsibility towards community and society.
- Enhance Youth Participation:
- Develop skills and knowledge that enable young people to actively engage in civic life.
- Explore various forms of participation, including social, cultural, and political involvement.
- Promote Cross-Cultural Understanding:
- Facilitate international mobility experiences to broaden perspectives and promote cultural exchange.
- Encourage dialogue and collaboration among participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Develop Leadership Skills:
- Provide opportunities for participants to develop leadership qualities.
- Empower young individuals to initiate positive change in their communities.
- Create Sustainable Networks:
- Foster long-lasting connections among participants and partner organizations.
- Establish a network of young leaders committed to promoting active citizenship.
Description:
‘YOUth Take the Lead,’ project originates from a local-level need to involve a greater number of young people in organisational activities, especially in small and challenging contexts. Recognizing the effectiveness of small-scale projects in rural and marginalised areas, the project aims to address the lack of youth participation procedures in these communities. Emphasising a gradual involvement strategy, the project seeks to guide participants with less experience and overcome language barriers, ensuring comfort in expressing opinions. The project’s funding importance lies in addressing the actual needs of rural areas, where young people are seen as the driving force of innovation and future leadership. A local survey conducted by partner organisations highlights the community’s desire for increased youth activism, environmental awareness, and a scarcity of related activities. The project’s significance extends to both local and European levels, fostering community development and ensuring that these communities are not left behind in global transition processes.

Target Group of the Project:
The project is designed for:
- Young People (18-30 years old):
- Enthusiastic individuals eager to make a positive impact in their communities.
- Those interested in developing leadership skills and promoting active citizenship.
- Professionals working with young people, aiming to enhance their ability to guide and support youth initiatives.
- Those committed to fostering a culture of active citizenship within their organisations.
- Individuals representing local organisations or community groups interested in collaborating with young leaders.
- Those dedicated to creating opportunities for youth participation in community development.
Accomondation and Food:
Participants will stay in an accommodation at Tornaľa, Slovakia in 2-3-4 bedded rooms at Tornaljai Evangélikus Konferencia és Missziói Központ (https://tornalja.lutheran.hu/).
The bathrooms and toilets are shared.
Bed linens are provided. Please bring your own towels.
Breakfasts, lunches, dinners per day will be provided by the organisers.
Financial Conditions/ Reimbursements:
We will organise the trip for you!
The mobility is implemented in the frame of the Erasmus+ Programme. The costs – including costs of full-board and accommodation during the program – will be covered by the organisers.
Participants are expected to cover insurance and any additional personal expenses.
If the participant fails to attend the event the organizers shall be compelled to charge him/her for any travel expenses covered by the organizers.
Participants Profile:
- aged 18+
- Youth workers
- able to communicate in English,
- motivated to meet people from different countries, explore topics related to the environment and engage in climate activism.
- motivated to share and enhance new approaches, insights & practices for green (youth) event organising.
- motivation to take part in a mutual learning process in a very intercultural setting;
- sufficient level of English to follow the training and to contribute to it;
- wish and ability to participate fully in the event;
- demonstrate respect and diversity of backgrounds within the group

relevant to present your culture and/or country during the intercultural evening.
